As was stated by representatives of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, in 2016 investments into the hospitality segment exceeded $600 million. The authorities anticipate that during the next five years about 500 new accommodation facilities will be delivered to the Moscow market, with a large share of these to be financed by so-called non-core investors.

As per the Border Service of Russia, in H1 2016, 10% more foreign tourists entered Russia than during the same period of 2015. It is noteworthy that this growth is due not only to increasing numbers of Chinese and Middle East tourists (as estimated by Rostourism their numbers rose 30-50% y-o-y), but also due to the recovery of demand among European tourists. After the opening of Zhukovsky Airport in 2016, Moscow has four civil airports capable of transporting more than 80 million passengers...
