Vester sells non-liquid and low profit objects

A meeting of shareholders of Vester Group was held in March 2009 to determine the further development strategy of the company until 2015 and the approach for 2009-2010.
It was decided to continue developing the federal chain Vester and hypermarket as its priority format. The main criteria when choosing a store for a Vester Hyper will be the size of the premises 4,000-9,000 sq. m.

The objects in ownership will be prioritized if they have about 20k sq. m. of areas and a plot of at least four hectares. A car park for 800 cars is a vital factor as well. The target of Vester is to open around 50% of all the objects based on these criteria.

Additional formats in chain development will be neighborhood stores and supermarkets. The decision on opening Sosed shops and Vester supermarkets will be made taking in account, first of all, the location: central or residential districts with high density and low level of competition. Objects with up to four years of payback period will be considered.

The chain will keep growing in the CIS. In particular, new objects will be open in the capitals of Kazakhstan and Belorussia. Yet Russia will still be the main priority for the chain development.

In addition, the approach for 2009-2010, the years of the sever crisis, was discussed at the meeting. Main objectives will be keeping the efficiency and profitability of the business, sale of non-liquid and low profit objects, launch or sale of long term projects.
